How to keep your belongings safe and secure with Storebox

At Storebox, the safety of your storage unit and your belongings stored inside them are of the utmost importance. That’s why we have a number of different security measures installed in our units and on every Storebox site around the UK. We do our part by providing 24hr CCTV, floodlights for those night time visits and security codes for both the site gate and the boxes themselves. If you’re looking for even more security, there are a few things you can do to give you peace of mind.   

Keep valuables in a secure container

We make sure there are plenty of external security for your self-storage units, but if you have valuables that you want to keep extra secure, why not invest in a stronger storage box? Investing in a small safe or box that you can easily fit a lock on, can help to add that extra level of security for those particularly special items. Some of your belongings may have special requirements for storage, for example, if they are delicate and sensitive to temperature changes or humidity. Make sure you are completely clued up on the correct way to store all of your belongings and you’ll be able to rest assured that they are stored safely.    

Keep access and security codes private

We provide a unique access code for your unit, so that you can be sure you are the only one coming in and out. Make sure you keep this code on a strictly need-to-know basis and you’ll have no problems keeping your items safe. We also take your mobile number in order to allow you access to your chosen site. If your phone is lost or stolen, let us know straight away and we can make sure no one is accessing the site without permission.

Make sure you are properly covered

We do everything we can to keep your Storebox safe, but just to be extra careful, we highly recommend taking out insurance for your unit’s contents. There are plenty of ways to insure your belongings whilst in storage, we can lend a hand by offering our very own storage insurance, or you can look at a few third-party insurers. Whatever your choice, make sure you are correctly covered for everything you want to keep in your unit.    

Keep all items off the floor

Using shelving units or palettes to keep boxes and other items off the floor can protect them from damage. If there should be an incident such as flooding, keeping your items elevated will help to protect them from water damage. We keep our units climate controlled, however, to make sure your belongings are completely free from condensation or humidity, keeping them stored off the floor is a great solution. Being mindful of your packing and how you choose to store your items once they have been placed in your Storebox can often make the biggest difference. We pride ourselves on the security of our units, but a few small steps from you can give you the ultimate peace of mind.
